NAD is critical for cellular processes and mitochondrial function. Animal studies have shown improvements in almost every bodily system: improved blood sugar and lipid metabolism, reduced fatty liver, less weight gain, protects against diabetic kidney disease, improved heart protection and blood vessels, and neuroprotection (stroke and dementia issues).
We test for NAD levels in our Biohackr Clinics in SF and Palo Alto. NAD levels decline with age. But levels vary, and individual response to supplementation also varies. We believe in testing, treating, and the RETESTING. More is not always better.

We offer IV NAD and oral NAD. NAD can be given IV or via its oral precursons. In our Biohackr Health supplement, we favor NMN as a precursor due to its stability and bioavailability. We add niacinamide and ribose for the additional benefits. NR is another precursor, with similar effects, but NR is more unstanble. To see why we picked NMN, read this article. Our product is high quality and third party tested.
2024 and 2025 Human NAD studies
Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) Studies:
- A 2024 randomized controlled trial in 60 older adults (250 mg/day for 12 weeks) showed NMN significantly increased blood NAD+ levels, maintained walking speed 4 meter walking time, and improved sleep quality compared to placebo.
- A 2024 post-hoc analysis of 80 adults ages 40-65 (300-900 mg/day NMN for 60 days) showed significant dose-dependent increases in NAD+ levels, but with high interindividual variability Increases in NAD+ correlated with improvements in 6-minute walk distance and quality of life scores,
- A 2024 open-label trial in 11 healthy middle-aged Japanese men (125 mg twice daily for 8 weeks) showed NMN safely boosted NAD+ levels and modestly attenuated postprandial hyperinsulinemia in participants with insulin oversecretion
- A 2024 meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials found that NAD+ precursor supplementation reduced plasma total cholesterol and triglycerides, but did not significantly affect other metabolic issues including body weight, glucose, HDL, LDL, or blood pressure.
Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) Studies:
- A 2024 randomized controlled trial (the NICE trial) in 90 people with peripheral artery disease showed that 6 months of NR significantly improved 6-minute walk distance
- A 2025 pilot trial in 8 older adults with peripheral artery disease (4 weeks of NR) demonstrated positive trends in peripheral endothelial function, significant improvements in cerebrovascular response in the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, and cognitive enhancement across multiple domains. NR supplementation was associated with reduced oxidative stress and increased nitric oxide production in endothelial cells.
The studies are not conclusive as to best method of giving NAD (IV? NMN? NR?), dosage, and timing. It also appears that there is a lot of variability among baseline levels and the response to supplementation.
Biohackr Health NAD programs
We are fans. We offer many different approaches to NAD. We offer it IV, with many different concentration levels. We have a IV NAD membership to help our members save money for those who do IV NAD on a regular basis. We also have a NAD program for those just starting out, to test your level, supplement with IV and our oral Biohackr NAD supplement (NMN, niacinamide, and ribose), and then retest.
We believe in the individual nature of this. Generally your NAD level will decrease with age, but we see a lot of variability within a given age. We also see different responses to supplementation- how much is needed and how quickly your levels improve.
