Hormone testing
Hormone levels are important. In younger years, this has to do with reproductive health and fertility. But as you age, hormone changes lead to changes in:
- Muscle mass, strength, and endurance
- Weight
- Brain health- depression, dementia, energy levels, mood
- Hair changes
- Bone density
- Heart health (estrogen is protective)
- Skin changes
- Sexuality- desire, discomfort
As with all things we advocate, testing is important to find out your baseline. This helps adjust treatment, whether you are doing hormone balancing and replacement by pelleting (it is tailored individually to your lab results), patches, creams, or other methods.

TEST OPTIONS
Hormones are important. For younger patients, fertility is the focus. For aging patients, perimenopause, menopause, and men over 40 see hormonal changes. These hormone changes affect many body systems, and correcting levels of hormones give great benefits.

RESTING METABOLIC RATE
Are you looking at hormones or thyroid levels due to weight gain? If so, knowing your resting metabolic rate is helpful. RMR will tell you how many calories you burn at rest during a day. Your baseline rate changes with aging, exercise, and diets. This is a testable number and can help you tailor your program. This looks at how many calories you need to have your heart beat, hair grow, and brain think.
This test requires an appointment and is usually best done in the morning as you need to fast beforehand. To see the prep, read our blog on how to prep for an RMR test.
