Over 80 peptide drugs have reached the market, with approximately 500 more in development and 287 currently in clinical trials across diverse therapeutic areas. You have heard of peptides, even if you don’t realize they are peptides. All the GLPs are peptides- semaglutide, tirzepatide, retatrutide.

Peptides are active. This is an arena where you need to educate yourself. What is the goal? What are the side effects? What is the source? How is the quality tested- purity? sterility? dosage? How long should you take it for? We at Biohackr Health believe in third party testing and meet with all our suppliers to ensure the highest quality.

WHAT ARE THE BUZZY PEPTIDES?

Based on current research and interest, top FDA approved peptides:
  • GLP Analogs GLP1 (semaglutide. liraglutide)
    • What does it do? Appetite suppression, glycemic control, obesity treatment.
    • How? Mimics glucagon like peptide 1, influences insulin secretion, satiety.
    • Notes: FDA therapeutics. Has wider effects on addiction, inflammation, and other disease processes. See our GLP blogs.
  • GLP Dual and Triple Agonists- GLP 2, GLP 3 (tirzepatide, retatrutide)
    • What does it do? Advanced obesity treatment, metabolic issues, and energy regulation.
    • How? It also mimics GLP-1, but includes GIP and glucagon receptor agonism.
    • Notes: Superior efficacy for weight management. Generally thought to be more effective and better tolerated than GLP1. Microdosing is being looked at for health benefits and longevity.
  • Sermorelin
    • What does it do? Stimulates the pituitary gland to naturally release growth hormone, which supports growth, metabolism, and overall health
    • How? It is a synthetic amino acid analog of GHRH which stimulates the pituitary gland to make hGH in a natural manner which mirrors the body’s natural hormone rhythm GH release
  • Tesamorelin
    • What does it do? It reduces visceral abdominal fat, metabolic effects
    • How? GHRH analog. It stimulates growth hormone release
    • Notes: It is clinically approved for HIV related lipodystrophy. Off label metabolic research continues.

WHAT ARE BUZZY PEPTIDES ON THE HORIZON?

There are many peptides which have been studied well in animal studies, but human studies are not as prevalent. You will see many of these talked about on social media and in the news.

  • TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4 Fragment)
    • What does it do? It helps with tissue repair, injury recovery. It improves flexibility and circulatory function
    • How? It regulates actin cytoskeleton and promotes angiogenesis
    • Notes: It is complimentary to BPC 157 and is combined with it in regenerative protocols. This blend is used by athletes to promote muscle recovery, improve flexibility. When combined with BPC 157 it is known as Wolverine Stack
  • GHK-CU (Copper Peptide)
    • What does it do? It enhances collagen and elastin production, promotes wound healing, stimulates hair growth, and improves skin firmness and elasticity.
    • How? Copper peptides naturally bind copper ions, which is a cofactor for several enzymes in tissue repair and regeneration.
    • Notes: Stimulates collagen and elastin, antioxidant activities, promotes wound healing, and stimulates hair growth (promotes anagen phase)
  • BPC-157 (Body Protective Compound-157)
    • What does it do? Thought to help with healing- muscles, tendons, ligaments, gut lining repair, and tissue regeneration
    • How? Promotes angiogenesis (new blood vessels) and collagen formation
    • Notes: Highly studied for musculoskeletal recovery (see a great summary published Orthopedic Surgery Article), but limited human clinical trials

How can Biohackr Health help?

We offer some peptides. Again, we are focused on the science behind the peptides we offer and high quality. This is a rapidly evolving space. For exact offerings, you need to be seen in our San Francisco or Palo Alto Biohackr clinics.
